ABOUT THE STUDIO

Chené Lawson // Co-owner /
Executive Producer / Creator & Writer

Chené Lawson is an African-American sci-fi writer who got her degree in Advertising at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. After graduating, she moved to Los Angeles, joined the Sunday Company at The Groundling’s Theater where she studied sketch writing under Oscar-winning screenwriter Jim Rash (The Descendants). Chené has gone on to develop several screenplays and short scripts, one of which received honorable Mention at the NYC Midnight Flash Fiction Competition as well as landed in the Semifinals at the HollyShorts Film Festival Screenwriting Competition. In addition, Chené penned an Afro-futuristic narrative podcast called “All Things Undone” which won a Webby for Best Scripted podcast of 2023 , debuted #7 on Apple podcasts (iTunes) & has garnered several awards in the festival circuit. She is currently pitching All Things Undone to studios for television development and adapting a couple short stories into a podcast set to be announced 2023.

Joel Peissig // Co-owner /
Executive Producer/ Creative Director

Joel landed a job as Art Director at BBDO New York at just 20, working on ads for HBO, Visa, and Federal Express before moving into creative direction and award-winning campaigns. Ridley Scott & Associates recruited him after his debut commercial, and he was selected for the New Directors Showcase at Cannes Lions. He won the audience award at Resfest for Frou-Frou's "Dumbing Down of Love" and directed Imogen Heap's "Hide and Seek," which has over 35 million views on YouTube.

He went on to direct the launch campaign for SHOWTIME's Homeland and served as creative director on immersive 3D sound experiences for DTS, collaborating with Oscar-winning sound designers Erik Aadahl and Ethan Van der Ryn. At Searchlight Pictures, he developed campaigns for Jojo Rabbit, Nightmare Alley, and The French Dispatch, earning a Clio.

More recently, Joel and Chené's Webby-winning series All Things Undone returns to Audible Originals in late summer 2025, and his production work on How to Destroy Everything earned a 2024 Webby Honoree nod and an iHeart nomination for Best Emerging Podcast—hitting #1 on the Apple Charts with one million downloads after just two episodes.

ABOUT JOEL

From creative trenches and corporate boardrooms to directing on backlots with Emmy-winning actors, London flats with Grammy-winning artists, and the deepest jungles of India — I've made the most of every moment, experience, and resource. A collaborative creative process is what I live for. When that flow takes hold, it gives a project energy, and through it I've watched the impossible unfold.

I've been fortunate to lead remarkable groups of creatives who've brought me insight, brilliance, and no small amount of laughter.

Stepping out of the creative halls and onto a film set was a decision forged in courage and vision. Directing brought a deep production awareness into my conceptual process, just as years of agency work informed my directing — a rare, multidimensional ability to be as at home leading client strategy and creative pitches as directing massive shoots anywhere in the world.

Now more than ever, we need compelling stories; we are educated, changed, and guided by them. They lead us to a better understanding of ourselves and our world. My passion is collaborating with the creatively courageous to originate stories that point the way to a better world for us all.
